Good location, check-in difficult
The apartment (unit 15) was in a great location just across the park from the harbor. It is dated, but clean and functional with a great view of the park and the harbor from the large deck. Many windows opened so we could get good airflow which was good because on a sunny day, the west-facing windows would heat up the apartment quickly in the afternoon. The full kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cookware, but no spices or basics like salt and pepper. The unit is reasonably sized and could easily accommodate a family of 4 (or 5 if someone is willing to sleep on the top bunk) sharing one bathroom, though I would be concerned if I had toddlers on the deck because it is on the 3rd floor and the railing spindles are wide spaced.
Checking in was painful, however. The emailed instructions sent us to a shipping container with a clever method for using an iPad to get into the container, then another to get into the locker with the keys. It was quite dark in the container so we grabbed the keys from the locker and proceeded to the apartment, but we missed the garage door opener. On the second trip out to the shipping container, it had gotten too hot so the iPad wouldn't work. So it took 2 visits to the shipping container, 2 visits to the rental office and 2 phone calls to get checked in.
The next hurdle was getting into the apartment. Our set of keys had 6 unlabeled keys so when we first arrived and walked to the front of the building, we had to try several different keys to get into the part of the building that had our unit. Then we walked up the stairs to the 3rd floor to find the door to our apartment and went through the exercise of trying several keys to find the one that works for the door handle and which worked for the deadbolt, they are different. Later when we headed down to the garage for the car we learned that you need another key to get into the garage (from inside of the building that is already secured with a locked door). With a single set of keys it was impossible for us to split up.

We really do appreciate that you have shared this with us, this gives us the opportunity to make improvements on the property and our service. We are terribly sorry about the frustrating time you had getting the keys from the key hub, we are continually taking steps to improve the pick up and drop off process but it seems that some guests are still having difficulties. We look forward to welcoming you back to Port Stephens in the near future.
