A 60km round trip from Nelson Bay will provide you with a range of ingredients. Start on the Nelson Bay Foreshore for your choice fishing co-ops before heading out to Holberts Oysters to experience Sydney Rock Oysters, grown in Port Stephens. Head south along Nelson Bay Road and keep an eye out for the Real Tomato Farm Shop located at Bobs Farm. This fifth generation family business offers a wide range of fruit and vegetables, including raspberries, strawberries, pumpkin, squash, cucumber, eggplant, beans, limes, potatoes and of course the biggest seller, the Anna Bay Tomatoes.
Travel towards Raymond Terrace and take a side trip to the Medowie Macadamia Farm to pick some of Australias own native nuts. Across from the Macadamia farm is a small Ivy Farm which sells fresh plums and oranges, depending on the season. On the way back to town be sure to stop at the Avocado Farm at Bobs Farm or just a little further up the road grab some fresh figs around mid-January. Whilst there be sure to purchase fresh olives and olive oil grown on the Port Stephens soil.
